Final Fantasy IV: The After Years: Lunarian's Chapter (Nintendo Wii) PDF Print E-mail

Second verse, same as the first, and the second, and the third...

The Lunarians' Chapter, the seventh of eight episodes, does some things different, but a lot of what has made the series frustrating so far remains intact.

This chapter is where the difficulty really ramps up.  There are never more than two characters in your party for the entire chapter, which makes many of the fights exceedingly difficult, especially since only one of those two characters can fight in melee.  The chapter also features a boss find that causes a controller-throwing level of frustration on a level I haven't experienced for quite some time.

But what is more irritating than any of this is the fact that this chapter does nothing to forward the plot of the game, short of a couple little(and I mean little) tidbits.  It just leaves you frustrated that, 20+ hours into this series you barely know more than you did when you started.  At least thats how I felt.

Also, in the area of repitition, this level takes the cake by forcing you to walk through the final dungeon from Final Fantasy IV twice.  That's right, twice.

There's very little to redeem this chapter in my eyes.  I just can't recommend purchasing it; it's simply not good.  Buy it if you want to finish the series, otherwise you're probably just better off moving on after chapter six.

System: Nintendo Wii

Genre: RPG
Experience: Finished the Chapter
