So it seems like there has been alot of news about video game movies this week. Well, here's another story. In a recent IGN interview with Lorenzo di Bonaventura the producer of the upcoming Asteroids movie, shared a little bit of information about how the hell you make a movie about Asteroids.
He had this to say: "We've crafted a really strong, deep mythology for the thing. Without divulging too much about it, it's two lead characters - two brothers - who have to go through a seminal experience to figure out their relationship, against this huge backdrop."
Wait..what?
This seems like a bad idea all around. I realize you have to flesh out the story a little..wait..no you don't, its fucking Asteroids. There's a triangle that shoots big rocks, thats all it is. Will the moive even feature that? Lets see what Bonaventura said:
"Well you'd better have some guys in spaceships blowing stuff up, or else you haven't honoured the fun of Asteroids."
Really, you don't say. I like how that quote almost seems like an after thought. Gotta love Hollywood's respect for source material. Even though Asteroids really doesn't have much in the way of source material.
If you really wanna know what you're in for, here's something to think about this is coming from the same genius producer that brought us the Transformers, GI Joe, and Doom movies.
