Fixing that problem comes later, according to Sega. They pretty much admitted that the quality of recent Sonic the Hedgehog games has been well, not that good. In a recent interview with Industry Gamers, Sega's VP of Marketing, Sean Ratcliffe had a few things to say on the subject.
He basically said that the quality of Sonic games is something that can be fixed over time. It's not something that just happens magically overnight. That it takes alot of hard work and time to make a quality game. Also saying that he thought Sonic Unleashed was received fairly well by kids. That kids seemed to enjoy the werehog levels, and the older fans seemed to like the fast sidescroller levels. Also he assured that Sega is always trying to raise the bar of quality when it comes to Sonic. I don't think they're going about it the right way. When asked about making another 2D Sonic without any kind of gimmick, Ratcliffe said that while Sega thinks it might be a bit too risky to release something like that on the 360 or PS3, he said that it might not be such a bad idea to make it a digital download. So basically he's saying that it's too difficult and time consuming to make a game good, and that they'll just keep shoveling out the crap cause the kids like it. You're dead to me, Sega. Look Sega, it's not that hard. Just take what you did with Sonic 1 and 2, make it 2.5/3D, and release it on the PS3, Wii, and 360, maybe the handhelds as well. THIS IS WHAT THE FANS WANT! I repeat, people will by this game.
