About MyTwoCopper.com

MyTwoCopper was founded in January of 2009. Our goal is to provide fellow gamers with our opinions on games of all kinds, not just what came out last week or last month. When we sat down to create the site, all of us thought that there was something missing from games journalism, and we have set out to provide that service.

Almost all of the gaming websites on the internet fall into one of two categories: Trendy or Retro. Trendy sites focus on what has come out recently; They only review the latest games and, unless a title is exceptionally good or bad, it is rarely mentioned after its initial review. The focus is primarily on what just came out and what's coming out next. Retro, however, is just the opposite. Retro sites, by definition, focus on older titles almost exclusively. Between these two extremes are many gamers that have no outlet that speaks to their tastes in gaming. Those gamers are the audience to which we are speaking.

To that end, we at MyTwoCopper pledge two things to our readers and listeners: we will provide a continuous stream of reviews, podcasts, and editorials that cover as wide a spread of gaming as we are physically able to cover, and that we will, whenever possible, try to maintain an open mind and perspective.

Our Rating System

Our rating system is based on three simple recommendations: for every game, we recommend either that our readers Buy It, Rent It, or Skip It. A rating of Buy It means that this title is worth a full retail purchase, and should be experienced by anyone that can come up with the cash. Rent It means that the particular title, while not deserving of your dollar, is definitely something you should experience. Rent these titles from your local rental store or borrow them from a friend instead. Skip It simply means that this game is bad and should be avoided altogether.

We have no scores in our ratings system. This is primarily due to the way we as writers view game reviews. We view reviews as consumer aids when making purchasing decisions. Therefore, we decided not to use scores, and instead cut out the middle man and just tell our readers whether they should buy the title in question or not.

At the end of each review, we also include an Experience section that spells out the time we spent with the game. This is so our readers know the degree to which we are informed when making our decision, and there can be no question about how qualified our opinions are.

Hopefully you'll enjoy our site, and come back again and again. You're the reason why we write this.
